Section 48 Inspection Report
Education Commission, Catholic Diocese of Southwark
17 October 2014
Overall effectiveness of the school in providing Catholic Education – Grade 1 Outstanding

wp09722317_05_06[1]“St Elizabeth’s is a highly effective, distinctly Catholic school that places equal value on academic achievement and the pupils’ personal faith development. It strongly recognises the individuality of ‘faith journey’ in a caring, nurturing, Catholic community that embraces pupils of all abilities and backgrounds.

Prayer and worship are a vital part of the life of the school and are of considerable quality. The school states that the words of its ‘aim’, ‘Love one another as I have loved you’ are central to all that the school does and this is certainly lived out in the daily life of the school”.

Overall effectiveness of the school – Grade 1 Outstanding

“St Elizabeth’s is an outstanding school … Pupils make outstanding academic progress from their starting points in the Early Years Foundation Stage and standards at the end of Year 2 and Year 6 are well above average.

Pupils are confident, reflective and very sensitive to the needs of others. Their personal development and well-being are outstanding. Spirituality pervades the school, behaviour is excellent and pupils are steered by a strong moral compass.

Teaching is outstanding overall because it is based on planning that ensures that work is well matched to every pupil’s needs. Ongoing assessment is a strength and pupils are consistently encouraged to improve”.
