Happy New Year to you all. We hope you had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed time with family and friends. The children always return to school still excited about their time at Christmas, and we enjoy listening to their stories.
The Spring term calendar is a busy one! The children particular enjoy ‘Health & Safety Week’ in January and ‘Book and Arts Week’ in March. In these weeks, we arrange an exciting programme of learning opportunities through external visitors, activities and workshops. We have arranged a number of educational visits this term, including a new visit for our Y6 pupils to the Houses of Parliament, and Y4 will be going on their first school journey to Sayers Croft in February.
The Spring term dates will be sent out shortly. Please note key dates for your child and letters will be sent home with additional information over the coming weeks.
This month, we have arranged a Parents’ Talk with Peter Cowley, Online Safety Officer at Achieving for Children. The meeting is on Thursday 24th January at 7:00 p.m. in the school hall. This is an invaluable and important meeting which we strongly encourage all parents of all ages to attend. Mr Cowley will give guidance to parents on how to put in place the correct measures for online safety and appropriate use of devices. Mr Cowley will also be talking to KS2 pupils earlier that day about E-Safety as part of Health & Safety Week.
School clubs start from next week, Monday 14th January. If you have not yet returned your child’s club registration form, please ensure that this is sent into school, with payment for St Elizabeth’s school run clubs, on Monday ready for club registration. Breakfast Club runs on every day of the school term and the school offers a flexible arrangement whereby parents can either enrol their child termly or bring them along on an ad hoc basis when they need to use the service. The Spring Term Breakfast Club letter is attached for more information.
We look forward to seeing Y4 parents at the Y4 Sayers Croft Parents’ Meeting on Wednesday 16th January at 7:00p.m.
Thank you also to Y1 for organising our first cake sale of 2019! The Y1 cake sale is being held next Friday 18th January.
Finally, for your information and to share with any Catholic person you may know who is currently working in a non-faith school, please find attached a flyer from the Education Commission inviting Catholic teachers and school leaders to an event in January entitled ‘Teaching in and Leading Catholic Schools’.
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
