Christmas is fast approaching! There is real excitement in school as children practise for the carol service, nativities and Christmas Mass.
This week, our Schola were exceptionally privileged to have been asked to sing at the start of a service at St George’s Cathedral. The children sang beautifully. A truly memorable day and we are very proud of our Schola to have been selected for this unique and honourable occasion.
Each year we invite Monsignor Bill into school to talk to our Y6 pupils about priesthood. Our Y6 classes enjoyed their visit with Monsignor Bill this week and relished the opportunity to ask questions as part of their RE topic of Vocations.
Sports News for this week … our Y5 & Y6 played a football league game and friendly fixture on Monday. Some great goals were scored as well as some excellent goal-keeping!
On behalf of our Y6 Chaplains, thank you sincerely for your generous support to the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoebox Appeal. This appeal helps children who are victims of war, poverty, famine disease and natural disaster. Our pupils take great time and care with their shoeboxes and it is a real opportunity for them to think of others in need. The shoeboxes are on their way!
After the Infant nativities and carol service, there will be a collection for our chosen Advent charity, The Passage, which is an organisation that helps homeless and vulnerable people to transform their own lives. There will also be an opportunity to support this charity with practical resources, such as towels, and more details will follow. We have invited a guest speaker from The Passage to come to school to speak to the children in assembly.
And finally, many congratulations to Alex and Natalia in Y6 who acted as Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher for the day. Their headteacher duties included school assembly, classroom visits and a ‘Headteacher’s Tea’ with pupils who had received the School Values Awards. A superb job was done by both!
