It has certainly been a good week for walking! Well done to each and every one of our pupils for taking part in our school sponsored walk on Tuesday. The children walked with great energy and enthusiasm and were really pleased with their achievement as they walked back through the school gates and across the finish line! Sponsorship money has already started to come in, thank you, and we look forward to receiving your child’s sponsorship by Monday 24th June.
Pupils are raising their hands in our assemblies this week to show all the different ways they have been coming to school as part of ‘Walk to School Week’ – it is very pleasing to see the effort children and families are making in using alternative methods of transport to the car. By leading through example, it really helps our children to understand the importance of active and ‘greener’ travel and we appreciate your support with this important initiative … even on the rainy days this week! The closing date for photographs (hard copies please) of your child/children on their way to school is Monday. Y5 have been very busy conducting an experiment on the air quality around school and we look forward to hearing from our ‘Y5 Green Team’ soon.
On Wednesday, Y4 prepared a lovely assembly about ‘Community’ and they showed us so many ways how we can think of others. The children acted their role plays very well and spoke very clearly. Thank you Y4.
Also on Wednesday, our Y3 classes had an educational visit to the Wetlands Centre in Barnes which supports their Science topic of ‘Plants and Animals’. Today, as part of their Art topic on William Morris, our Y2M pupils are participating in a workshop at Kelmscott House.
And finally … well done to our ‘Digme Spin Studios Cyclists’ who took part in an indoor sponsored spinning class last Saturday! On behalf of the entire ‘PTA Cycling Team for 2019’, we are thrilled to share that our cyclists have raised over £14,000. With each update, I try to find new words to say thank you for such dedication and commitment to our school. With an amazing team of parent cyclists, and with such generosity from our school community, we now look forward to planning the transformation of our Infant playground. With this new equipment, it will be clear for the whole school to see just what an incredible fund raising effort this has truly been, and one to be enjoyed by many, and for many years to come.
