Personal, Social & Health Education

At St Elizabeth’s, Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) is about growth and development of the whole person. Our aim is to integrate a pupil’s intellectual, spiritual, moral, emotional, psychological and physical development, thus assisting progress towards Christian maturity and responsible citizenship.

We believe that schools have an important part to play in supporting parents in their primary responsibility for enabling their children to grow in an understanding of human relationships.  School provides :

  • A secure setting in which children may safely form and develop their own relationships with both peers and adults.
  • A setting in which children can reflect upon their relationships.
  • An opportunity for people of the same age to share common experiences and learn from each other.
  • An opportunity to learn about others and to value similarities and differences.

We have a PSHE Curriculum Map which ensures progress throughout the year groups. The objectives are taught in both discrete PSHE/circle time sessions and also within Religious Education lessons and assemblies.  There are also times throughout the year when PSHE themes are given high priority across the school such as: Anti-Bullying Week, Black History Month and Health and Safety Week.
