Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for attending the parent-teacher meetings this week.  We hope that you found the meetings a useful opportunity to hear about your child’s progress and next steps.  The next parent-teacher meetings will be held in the Spring Term.

This week in school

Y6 Remembrance Assembly

On Tuesday this week Y6 led us in a beautiful and moving assembly on Remembrance.  The children explained the importance of remembering those who have died in wars and why we wear poppies.  They also shared the most amazing stories of family members in the two world wars whom they have been researching.  The stories showed acts of incredible bravery and determination from so many countries across the world.  A special mention must go to our Y6 musicians who played ‘I vow to thee my country’ as we all came into assembly.

Y2 Visit to Richmond Museum

Continuing the theme of Remembrance, on Monday our Y2 children visited Richmond Museum to learn about Richmond in the First World War.  They then visited the Richmond War Memorial to find the names of the soldiers whose lives they had been hearing about.

Friendship Week

This week has been ‘Friendship Week’ in school.  We started the week with ‘Odd Socks Day’ to celebrate our differences.  On Wednesday Mrs Compton and the School Council led an assembly on how we can all be a ‘Power for Good’.  The School Council representatives showed the children how we can all use our words in positive ways.  They also introduced ‘Positive Noticing Day’ when we all acknowledge one another’s small acts of kindness by giving someone a label thanking them for what they do.  If you would like to know more about ‘Positive Noticing’ as a strategy to use at home, do visit: https://www.positivenoticingday.com/homeadults

Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles

St Elizabeth's girls have had an amazing week of football, with a league game and a Borough Tournament. On Monday, confident from their opening league win, they suffered a defeat to Sheen Mount, who played some amazing passing football. Despite the loss the girls enjoyed the game and took their positive approach to the Borough Tournament. Playing well as team and scoring goals, the girls won or drew all their morning games.

In the afternoon, they played against more of the unbeaten teams from across the borough and continued to show great team spirit, defend extremely well and score goals. The tournament was eventually won by the impressive Sheen Mount team. Over the day, our girls were competitive against some very good sides and were really pleased with their performance. Many thanks to the parent supporters and well done to all the players!

KS1 Choir sing at Greville House Care Home

On Wednesday our KS1 Choir visited Greville House, our neighbouring care home, to perform for the residents.  The elderly people in the home were delighted to see and hear the children sing and have asked if the choir can come back again soon.

Next week in school

Christ the Redeemer Joint Schools Choir Concert

On Thursday 20th November at 6pm we are delighted that the choir from St Osmund’s, one of our fellow Christ the Redeemer Trust schools, will be joining us for a vocal concert.  Our KS2 choir will be performing and everyone is welcome to attend.  There is no charge for tickets but there will be a charity collection at the end.

Mufti Day Non-uniform day for hamper gifts

Don’t forget!  On Friday 21st November the children can wear their own clothes to school in return for bringing in a food item for the Christmas hampers.  The donations are made into food hampers for the very popular tombola at the Christmas Fair.

November – Month of Holy Souls

We will be continuing to share photographs of loved ones who have died in our assemblies throughout November.  Photographs can be printed on paper or framed, and will be on display on our ‘Friends in Heaven’ table in the school hall throughout the month.  We will pray the Eternal Rest for our loved ones in each assembly.
