Dear Parents and Carers,
The Christmas holiday is here and what a wonderful couple of weeks we have had in school! Please do scroll down to see photographs of our Nativities and Advent Carol Service.
This week in school
We started this week with our Schola Choir singing at St Winefride’s Advent Service on Monday evening. This was a beautiful evening of music and readings and the children were delighted to be able to participate.
This was followed by our Christmas Lunch on Tuesday where our catering team did an amazing job!
Yesterday was our Mass in Anticipation of Christmas. The children in Y5 prepared the readings and prayers and we are very thankful to Canon John for celebrating this special Mass for us.
Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles
To finish the term, St Elizabeth's took part in two sporting events. On Monday, the Y5/6 tag rugby team played a league game against The Vineyard School. The game was a tight match with some excellent defending that finished as a narrow win for The Vineyard. Jack was voted player of the match by the opposition.
The highlight of the week was the return of Borough Sportshall Athletics, hosted at St Mary's University. A team of 17 children from Y5 and Y6 performed strongly in throwing, jumping and running events. St Elizabeth's won most of their running heats and finished 4th on the day, losing only to three of the largest schools in the borough. We are very proud of this fantastic achievement for our athletes! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who kindly helped to transport the team - we are very grateful.
This term, St Elizabeth's have attended events in a great range of sports involving children from all the KS2 age groups. Well done to all our young sports stars!
Thank you for your support
Our Advent charity has been CAFOD World Gifts and we have raised over an incredible £1,000 through class fundraising events and the collections after our Nativities and Advent Carol Service. Thank you very much for your generous donations.
Thank you to our PTA and class reps who have helped in the organisation of our events which make Christmas at St Elizabeth’s so memorable for our children.
Thank you too, on behalf of our staff for your kind gifts and cards - these are very much appreciated.
