Dear Parents and Carers,
The rain this week hasn’t dampened our spirits and we have had another great week in school.
This week in school
Scooter Training
The Richmond Safety Team were in school yesterday teaching our Y2 children how to scoot safely. They learnt how to control the scooter, be aware of pedestrians and most importantly how to stop at junctions. Thank you to the team for making these really important sessions so much fun!
Piano Concert
Well done to the children who are performing at this afternoon’s piano concert. It is always quite amazing to see the talent on show and also lovely to encourage those who are new to learning the piano. Thank you to Mrs FitzGerald for arranging this concert.
Eco-Warriors Assembly
This morning our Eco-Warriors led our assembly on recycling. They showed the rest of the school how and why we should use our recycling bins. They also introduced the ‘Big Plastic Count’ which is a national survey of plastic waste which the school will be taking part in later this term. The Eco-Warriors take their role very seriously and are great role models for the school, litter picking and promoting environmental awareness.
Sports update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles
This week, St Elizabeth's played two netball fixtures. On Monday, the team travelled to Kings School in Kew and on Tuesday we hosted Darell School. Both games were closely contested and played in excellent spirit. Against King's School, despite creating more scoring chances and an exciting fight back in the final stages of the game, we lost 5-4. Alianna was voted player of the match for her excellent defence. The game against Darell School finished with St Elizabeth's scoring the winning goal with the last touch of the match - a fine demonstration of the school value of perseverance! The opposition voted Jack player of the match for scoring the crucial goal. Well done to all the players!
Sports Assembly
The Sports Committee led an assembly this week. Sharing their passion for sport with the school, they talked about their favourite sports, sporting role models and the work they have been doing around the school to promote and improve sporting activity. Many of the committee have written to their role models inviting them to school to help inspire the next generation. Maxim invited Reece James, the Chelsea footballer. Although he wasn't able to visit us, he sent the school a message encouraging us to work hard both in the classroom and in our sporting activities - great advice for all our children!
Next week in school
Sayers Croft Meeting for Y5 parents
On Tuesday 27th January at 9 a.m. there will be a meeting for Y5 parents to hear about the children’s residential visit to Sayers Croft taking place in March. The meeting will last around 45 minutes and will be in the Food Technology Room. We look forward to seeing you there.
