Dear Parents and Carers,

There are just two and a half weeks left of this school year and such a lot is happening in that time.  Please do read on to see the dates for your diary.

We look forward to seeing you at the BBQ this evening.  It promises to be a great night! Thank you to the Y3 parents and the PTA Committee for organising our last PTA event of the school year.

And exciting news!  Congratulations to Mrs van den Driessche who welcomed her baby boy, Alfie, on Wednesday this week.  We all send our very best wishes to Mr and Mrs van den Driessche and we can’t wait to meet Alfie.

This week in school

It has been a big week for sport with both KS1 and KS2 sports days taking place.  Well done to all the children for taking part and trying their best.  Thank you to Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles for organising the sports days.

KS1 Sports Day

On Wednesday, our KS1 children took part in a carousel of sporting activities on the school’s astroturf. From running relays to speed-bounce, balancing challenges to target throws, each station encouraged the children to try their best while having fun. It was fantastic to see so many smiles, cheers, and demonstrations of sportsmanship throughout the morning. A big thank you to our staff and Y5 & Y6 Sports Leaders who supported each activity and kept the spirit high from start to finish.

KS2 Sports Day

We had a fantastic KS2 Sports Day today at Christ’s School field. Pupils competed in a range of traditional athletic events including sprints, long distance races, vortex, long jump and relays. The children showed great determination and teamwork, representing their houses with pride. The supportive cheers from parents and families lining the track created a fantastic atmosphere. Well done to all the children for their determination and support of each other.  We will announce the results and winning house in our Sports Assembly later this term. 

We are incredibly proud of all our pupils for their effort, behaviour and sportsmanship across both days. Thank you to our staff, volunteer parent helpers and former pupils. 

Hockey Festival

On Monday, the children from Hockey Club represented St Elizabeth’s in the borough hockey festival at Teddington School.

Two teams of children took part in a carousel of skills and activities where they were scored for teamwork, communication and performance.  They then played some exciting games against other primary schools and were delighted with a first and fourth place overall in the competition. 

Congratulations to Jack, Mia, Audrey and Ujaan in Y6, for being awarded medals for sportsmanship and communication.  All our hockey players were wonderful ambassadors for our school.  Many thanks to Mr Marsh and  Mr Waring for assisting with transport on the day.

St Elizabeth’s Feast Day

On Monday 6^th July we will be celebrating St Elizabeth of Portugal’s Feast Day.  We will be having Mass in the morning at 10am which will be led by Y3 and celebrated by Fr Stephen.  This will be followed by a children’s picnic lunch and at 2:15pm all parents are invited to a concert in the school hall.  Each class will be performing a song and they are hoping to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society as well as the DEC to support emergency relief efforts in Venezuela.

Tickets to the Y6 Production of ‘Oliver’

The Y6 production of ‘Oliver’ is taking place on Wednesday 15^th July and Thursday 16^th July.  We will be writing to parents next week with information about how to reserve tickets.

Attendance and Punctuality

Congratulations to Y5 for having the highest attendance this week with 100%.  This is closely followed by Y6 with 99%.  Well done to Y4 and Y5 for having the least number of latecomers this week. 

Please note that the last day of school is Wednesday 22^nd July and the first day of the new school term is Thursday 3^rd September.
