Weekly Update 1st May 2026

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another beautiful, sunny week at school!

This week in school

Easter Project Exhibition

Well done to the children whose Easter projects were on display in the Easter Project Exhibition this week.  We were so impressed by the creative ways that the Easter story had been interpreted and the range of crafts on display.

Y3 Celebration of the Word assembly

Yesterday our Y3 children led our Celebration of the Word.  They shared how Easter is celebrated around the world and they explored how the disciples spread the Good News of Jesus’ resurrection.

Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles

This week, we enjoyed our first summer sports fixture. The Y5 and Y6 tennis team competed in the borough tournament at the Bank of England Sports Centre, which will be the venue for the Wimbledon qualifying tournament in a few weeks. The team played four matches against other schools showcasing their excellent shots, tactical awareness and enjoyment of the sport. St Elizabeth's finished 5th and were fantastic ambassadors for the school - well done to all! Thank you to our parent supporters for helping with transport for this event.

Sports Committee Assembly

On Tuesday, our Sports Committee led an assembly celebrating the sporting successes of our school teams, introducing the Mini Marathon and showcasing one of our play time activities. This year, sporting highlights included three of our league teams qualifying for the borough play offs, and the swimming squad winning medals and a small schools shield. Congratulations to everyone who has represented the school this year in a sport! The Sports Committee demonstrated one of our playground suitcase activities, managing to squeeze a small game of tennis on the stage! Next week, to celebrate the London Marathon, the committee will be managing the School Mini Marathon, where all children will be encouraged to run a distance during their break times. https://letsdothis.com/share/69f46dcebc7f189a455852ee

Thank you, Sports Committee!

Deacon Quentin and Seminarians Visit

We were delighted to welcome Deacon Quentin from St Elizabeth’s Parish into school this week with his fellow seminarians.  They spoke to our KS2 classes about their vocation, when they felt the call to priesthood and their training.  The seminarians really enjoyed speaking to the children and couldn’t resist a game of football on the invitation of our Y6 pupils!

Bo, the school dog

Bo was in school again today.  She enjoyed meeting all the KS1 children as they came in from playtime and she also enjoyed some time with a small group of children.

Next Week

May, the Month of Mary – Marian Procession

May is the month of Mary and we will be honouring Mary on Wednesday 6th May.  Our Y6 children will be leading a Celebration of the Word in each class and then we will all gather together for a procession to our Mary Garden where we will crown Mary with flowers.  Parents are welcome to join us for the procession from 10:45 to 11:15am.  We also ask children to bring some flowers into school on Wednesday to lay at the statue of Mary.

At 2:30pm parents are invited to come together to pray the Rosary in our School Chapel with a group of our Y6 Pupil Chaplains.  If you would like to attend this or the Mary Procession, please complete this Google Form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1lgYb_bjy_9kWifpO_kOI-Iu9air8bvd1lWu5MWJHUDw/edi

PTA Cyclists Bike Ride to Roubaix – Friday 8th May

There is only one week to go until the cyclists set off on their ride to Roubaix!  The cyclists will be leaving in two waves on Friday 8th May, at 7:45am and at 8:45am and parents and children are invited to cheer off each of the groups from the school astro-pitch.

Please do show your support by sponsoring our intrepid cyclists. Any donation, big or small, will be gratefully received and will go directly towards providing resources for all our children in school.
