It has been fantastic to see so many parents attending the Class Information Sessions over the past couple of weeks.  We are very appreciative of your support of our school and your child’s education and we look forward to working in partnership with you over this academic year.

MacMillan Cake Sale

A big thank you to all the Y5 and Y6s, who generously brought in cakes to sell at the Macmillan cake sale.

Thank you too, to the Mini Vinnies for organising the sale, which will support the charity’s important work, helping people living with cancer. We will update you when we have the final amount raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Diocesan Mass for the beginning of the school year

A group of Pupil Chaplains attended the ‘Beginning of the year Mass’ at St George’s Cathedral today. 

Along with hundreds of pupils from schools across the whole of Southwark Diocese, they carried our school banner with pride and represented our school with maturity.

Piano Concert

Well done to all the children who took part in the piano concert this evening.  All children performed brilliantly in front of an audience of parents and siblings.

National Reading Quiz  

Today, a team of 4 children took part in the southwest heat of the Junior National Reading Champions Quiz. This is a new national quiz for children aged 9-11 that has been launched as part of the National Year of Reading 2026. 

The team showcased their love of literature and knowledge of books answering 55 questions on children's books and had a fantastic experience participating in this new quiz.

The scores were very close and the St Elizabeth's Team came fifth. They also won the "Best Cheerleading" award, winning a £25 book voucher for the school. This is awarded to the school with the best engagement and participation during the quiz (cheering each other on and showing the best team spirit as judged by the moderators). 

Well done to Naia, Clodagh, Emma and Annabelle!

Next Week in school

Movie Night for all children – Y6 Fundraiser

Next Thursday, 1^st October, our Y6 parents are organising the first fundraiser of the year – a movie night! The film ‘Hoppers’ will be shown in the school hall from 6 to 8pm. 

Tickets are £6 per child. This includes a slice of pizza, popcorn and a drink.  Children can wear pyjamas or comfy clothes and they can bring a comfy cushion and their favourite teddy!  It’s going to be a fun evening!

CAFOD Family Fast Day

Friday 2^nd October is CAFOD Family Fast Day.  Children are encouraged to give up a snack on this day and donate the money saved to CAFOD. Children can bring their donation into school and we suggest £1 but welcome all donations.  Alternatively you can make a donation to CAFOD at https://cafod.org.uk/give

Children’s Commissioner’s National Children’s Survey: The Big Future

The Children’s Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza, is inviting all children throughout the country to complete a survey, called ‘The Big Future’.  The ‘Big Future’ asks children about their lives, their experiences and their hopes for the future. The information gathered will be used to build a national picture of what matters to children today and to ensure their views are heard by Government.  Please do consider completing the survey with your child at home.  As well as being an interesting talking point for you as a family, it shows your child how they can contribute to democracy and have their voice heard.  https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture

Awards this week

Values Awards

Congratulations to the following children who were spotted living our School Values:

Keon, Arthur, Freya, Julia, Alexander, Eureka and Philippa. 

PE Hoodies available to buy  

PE Hoodies in sizes 7-8yrs and 9-10yrs have now arrived in school and these can be purchased from the school office.  All other sizes are also available.  The PE hoodie is £18. 

Attendance this week

Congratulations to Y4 for having the highest attendance at an amazing 100%!  This is closely followed by Y3 at 99.7% - well above our school target of 97%.

Well done too to all the children in Y6 for excellent attendance with all children arriving in school before the register was taken this week.
