A Proud History and a Bright Future

Founded in 1840, in Richmond town centre, St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary School has been rooted in faith, high standards, and community from the very beginning.

Starting with just 45 pupils, our school community grew steadily throughout the 20th century. By the post-war era, it was clear that our original Victorian building could no longer accommodate our expanding school family.

In 1969 St Elizabeth’s moved to our current home on Queen’s Road, right next to Richmond Park. The forward-thinking design provided a light-filled, spacious learning environment set within beautiful, tree-lined grounds. As one pupil who made the move in 1969 recalled: “It was like a spaceship! Bright, modern, and spacious.”

Our school site has been continuously developed over the years to enable us to deliver a rich, ambitious curriculum, including a vibrant library, a dedicated music room, a food technology room and an astro-pitch. Most recently we have created a beautiful chapel used regularly by pupils, staff, and families for collective worship and quiet reflection.

Though our facilities have grown, the spirit of St Elizabeth’s remains unchanged. Across over 175 years in Richmond, St Elizabeth’s has combined high academic expectations with deep pastoral care and a strong Catholic ethos. We empower every child to achieve their personal best, developing confident, curious, and compassionate learners who are ready to be the responsible global citizens of the future.
