Weekly Update 20th June 2025

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope your children have enjoyed their day off today.  In school we have been busy hosting six local Catholic primary schools for our annual joint RE INSET Day.  Braving the heat, we have had a fantastic day of Prayer, Liturgy and Music training from CJM Music, learning much that we will bring to our liturgies with the children in school.

This week in school

Jubilee Pledge Day

On Wednesday this week we celebrated the ‘Jubilee Pledge Day’ with a special Celebration of the Word.  As part of the Jubilee year, all schools are being asked to come up with their own pledges and commit to keep these throughout the year and beyond.  Our school pledge focuses on looking after the environment, helping those in need in our local area and across the world, and taking action where people are treated unfairly.   The children all brought a footprint to the assembly which they had signed.  These are going to be displayed in the hall as visual reminders of our pledge to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.

Y1 assembly

Thank you to Y1 for leading us so beautifully in our prayers this week.  The children focused on ‘Meals’ and showed us how there are many similarities between the family meals we share and the Eucharist.  They shared special meals that they have shared and showed some impressive artwork.

Y4 and Y5 visit to the Sikh Gurdwara

The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Sikh Gurdwara in Hounslow yesterday.  An important part of our study of other faiths, the children valued the opportunity to learn about the importance of the Gurdwara as a place of worship for the Sikh community.

Sports Update

Borough Hockey runners up!

On Wednesday, two teams of children from Y5 and Y6 competed in the borough hockey tournament. The children played games throughout the morning in very sunny conditions, putting into practice all the skills they have honed in Hockey Club. The teams scored lots of goals and were complimented by the umpires on their excellent passing. Team 1 were unbeaten in their morning games and made it all the way to the final, where they lost to a very experienced Thomson House side. Player of the day was Layla for fantastic tackling and being top goal scorer. Many thanks to our parent helpers for assisting with transport and team management, and to Ian Tabor for preparing the children at Hockey Club.

Sponsored Walk – Wednesday 2nd July

We are very excited to share the date of our annual Sponsored Walk which is taking place on Wednesday 2nd July.  This is a fun school event and the children always enjoy this walk each year.  This walk is to raise money for school funds, which will include the purchase of microphone headsets for our Music department for school productions, concerts and plays for many years to come.

Please read the Arbor email with more information about the walk.  Sponsorship forms will be sent home next week, and we will also be sharing a JustGiving link to collect sponsorships too!
