Weekly Update 4th July 2025

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy St Elizabeth’s Day!  We have had a lovely day, celebrating the feast day of St Elizabeth of Portugal.  We began with Mass, led by Y3 and celebrated by Mgr Bill.  We then had a whole school picnic lunch and playtime and finally we had a concert with each class performing a song in front of parents.

We are very proud of our patron saint who is known as a great peacemaker.  She famously rode onto the battlefield to stop a war between her husband and her son.  She also looked after the poor and hungry outside the gates of her palace – a great role model for our school!

We hope you enjoy the photographs of the day!

Sponsored Walk

Congratulations to all the children for completing the Sponsored Walk on Wednesday.  The rainy start did not dampen the spirits and was actually welcome after the heat of Monday and Tuesday this week.  Thank you very much to all the parents who acccompanied the visit and special thanks to Mr Wever and the team of Y2 and other parents who organised the refreshments at the halfway points and end of the walk.

Please send your sponsorship money in by the end of next week or ask your sponsors to donate via the JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/schoolsponsoredwalk2025

All the funds raised will go towards buying microphone headsets which will be used by children in school productions.  Thank you very much for your generosity.

Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles

On Monday, Y5 finished off their series of friendly games against locals schools with a win and a draw against Marshgate. The boys' team dominated possession, with a lovely passing and moving game.  However, they fell behind to a goal against the run of play, before levelling just after half time.  The boys continued to work hard creating lots of chances and the game finished 2-2. The girls played an evenly matched game with excellent contributions from all team members. Mia scored a good goal and our defence held out to clinch the win. Well played to everyone involved in both matches; we are already looking forward to next year's fixtures!
