Dear Parents and Carers,
There have been many highlights this week in school!
This week in school
Y5 Visit to ‘Matilda’
Our Y5 children had the most amazing time, watching the West End production of ‘Matilda the Musical’ this week. They were so excited to see their classmate Arietta take on a major role in the show and were very proud to meet her afterwards at the Stage Door.
Y6 Visit to the House of Lords
Our Y6 pupils also had a wonderful experience on Tuesday when they visited the House of Lords. The children were invited by Lord Hunt of Kings Heath after he received their letters about climate change. Lord Hunt gave the children a tour of the Palace of Westminster and then answered their questions, encouraging them to become active in politics as they grow older.
The highlight of the visit was definitely watching a live debate in the House of Lords from high up in the gallery and incredibly our group left just as President Macron was arriving to speak in the House of Lords!
We would like to thank Lord Hunt for giving the children such an amazing and memorable day!
Sports Days
This week, the school was alive with energy and excitement as we celebrated our annual KS1 and KS2 Sports Days—two wonderful events that showcased our pupils’ enthusiasm, teamwork, and sporting talent. Thank you to Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles for organising these events.
KS1 Sports Day
On Wednesday, our KS1 children took part in a carousel of sporting activities on the school’s astro-turf. From running relays to speed-bounce, balancing challenges to target throws, each station encouraged the children to try their best while having fun. It was fantastic to see so many smiles, cheers, and demonstrations of sportsmanship throughout the morning. A big thank you to our staff and Year 6 Sports Leaders who supported each activity and kept the spirit high from start to finish.
KS2 Sports Day – Thursday at Christ’s School Field
Blessed with warm sunshine, our KS2 Sports Day was held at Christ’s School field. Pupils competed in a range of traditional athletics events including sprints, long distance races, vortex, long jump, and relays. The children showed great determination and teamwork, representing their houses with pride. The supportive cheers from parents and families lining the track created a fantastic atmosphere that made the day even more memorable. Congratulations to all participants. On Tuesday in our Sports Assembly we will reveal the results and winning house!
We are incredibly proud of all our pupils for their effort, behaviour, and sportsmanship across both days. Thank you to our staff, volunteer helpers and Christ's Sports Leaders.
Y3 Visit to Richmond Synagogue
Y3 visited the Richmond Synagogue this morning as part of their study of Judaism. They were excited to see the beautiful Torah scrolls and they learnt about Shabbat, tasting the Challah bread and grape juice. We would like to thank the team at the synagogue for the very warm welcome they gave to the children today.
Next week in school
Y6 Production of Aladdin the Musical
The Y6 production is less than a week away and KS1 were treated to the dress rehearsal today!
Please send your applications for tickets into school by 9am on Monday. We will allocate Y6 tickets first, followed by Y4 and Y5. We will then be able to update parents on the availability of tickets for other year groups early next week. Tickets for Y4, Y5 and Y6 will be sent home in reading packets on Monday. Full details of times for drop off and collection for the show will be sent out in a separate email next week.
PTA Summer BBQ – Friday 18th July
The BBQ is taking place next Friday from 6pm to 8pm. Do come along for some delicious food and entertainment from The Giggle Company in the school hall.
Please see the separate email for details of how to buy tickets for the BBQ and how you can help on the day. Thank you to the Y3 parents for organising this event.
Important – change of date for End of Year Mass
Please note that the end of year Mass has moved to 11am on Monday 21st July. Our Y6 pupils will be preparing the Mass and Fr Peter will be celebrating Mass for their intentions. Parents of children in all classes are welcome to attend.
The Governors’ Awards ceremony for our Y6 pupils will be taking place on Tuesday 22nd July at 9:15 a.m. followed by refreshments for parents and children.
Information for parents
Autumn Term 2025 Extra-Curricular Clubs Schedule
We will be sharing the Autumn term clubs schedule before the end of term so that parents can start to plan and sign up to clubs before the new term begins in September. We will send the clubs schedule on Monday 21st July at 2pm. Registrations for school and external clubs will not be accepted before this time, as this will ensure that all clubs operate under the same ‘first come first serve’ basis.
Sponsored Walk – Thank you!
Thank you very much for sending in your sponsorship money for the Sponsored Walk in Richmond Park. We have received an amazing £2,200 so far which has enabled us to buy a full set of twelve microphone headsets. These will be having their first use in the production of Aladdin next week!
There is still time to donate via the JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/schoolsponsoredwalk2025
