Weekly Update 5th September 2025

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been lovely to see all the children in school this week.  They have made a fantastic start to the new school year and their teachers and teaching assistants are all very impressed with the way they have settled in to their new classes, work and routines.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Reception children into school next week.  We also wish all our Y6 pupils who moved on from us in the summer a successful start to their secondary school career.

We are finalising our calendar of events for the Autumn Term and will be sending these out to you next week.

This week in school

Canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis

In our assembly today the children heard about Blessed Carlo Acutis who is due to be made a saint this Sunday.  The children learnt that Carlo was an ordinary boy who enjoyed computers and socialising with his friends throughout his short life.  He had great faith which he shared with his peers and more widely through the early internet.  His canonization will be presided over by Pope Leo and is the first of his pontificate.  You can find out more about Carlo Acutis here: https://youtu.be/IZ0p_3o-uMc?si=oSJVecpyWwn0alln

You can also watch the canonization live through the following website: https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/266227/how-to-watch-the-canonizations-of-carlo-acutis-and-pier-giorgio-frassati

Summer Reading Challenge

If your child completed the Summer Reading Challenge, please could you pass the certificate to Mrs Briggs by Monday 8th September? These will be presented to the children during assembly.

Last year our school had the highest number of children completing the Summer Reading Challenge in the borough.  We hope that many of our children have enjoyed a summer of reading this year too!
