Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another productive week in school!
This week in school
Mass for the beginning of the school year
We began the week with our Mass for the New School Year. Thank you to Mgr Bill for celebrating Mass for us and to our Y6 children for preparing the prayers and the readings. It was lovely to see so many parents able to join us.
Summer Reading Challenge
The KS2 children were presented with their Summer Reading Challenge Certificates in assembly today. As we reported in our previous newsletter, an amazing 97 children completed the reading challenge. Well done to everyone who took part!
Introducing the ‘Mini Vinnies’
In assembly today we were introduced to the ‘Mini Vinnies’. These are a group of Pupil Chaplains whose role is to put their faith into action, responding to the needs of others by organising charity fundraisers and community events.
As Mini Vinnies they are part of a wider network of young people who are working in the junior section of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Their first task is organising the Macmillan Cake Sale on Wednesday 24th September. They have asked the Y5 and Y6 children to provide the cakes and invited the whole school to bring in £1 to buy a cake after school on Wednesday. They are keen to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity - please do come along to the sale.
Pre-loved Uniform Sale
The Pre-loved uniform sale last week raised £1,185. This is an amazing amount of money which will go directly towards buying essential resources for the school. Thank you to Solange Ronfini and Liza Maxwell for organising the sale and to all those who helped by donating uniform.
Next week in school

We are looking forward to our Movie Night on Thursday 25th September. Children in all classes are invited to come into school at 6pm in their own clothes (or pyjamas if they are feeling cosy) to watch the Minecraft movie with their classmates. The cost of the ticket is £6 and includes a drink, pizza and popcorn.
