 This week in school

Good Luck to our Richmond to Roubaix Cyclists!

This morning we waved off our St Elizabeth’s Cyclists as they set off to Roubaix in France after a special blessing from Mgr Bill. This is the tenth annual cycle ride and there are over 30 cyclists taking part, including our very own Mr Sagar.  We are extremely thankful to all of our amazing cyclists for their efforts to raise money for our school and also to their families for supporting them throughout their training.  Special thanks go to the six cyclists who have taken part in every one of the ten rides:  Pete Maxwell, Paul Harper, Neil Jenkinson, David Cox, Stephan Bauer and Tom Andrews.

Please show your support for the cyclists by making a donation and sending a message of encouragement via the JustGiving webpage: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/richmondtoroubaix2026

On Wednesday, three of our cyclists visited us in assembly to tell us about their ride.  They left us with the message that you don’t have to be the best at something, but if you work hard and persevere you can achieve anything!

Good luck everyone!

Month of Mary, Marian Procession

May is the Month of Mary and on Wednesday we honoured Mary in our Marian Procession.  The whole school processed from the hall to the Mary Garden where we crowned the statue of Mary and placed flowers in the garden.

Every day during May, the School Chapel will be available for parents to meet and pray the Rosary between 9 to 9:30am.  If you would like to spend time in the chapel, please come to the school office after drop-off.

May Fair Brochure Competition Winners

There is only one week to go until the May Fair!

The entries for the May Fair Brochure Competition this year were fantastic!  The design created by Elena in Y3 has been chosen to be the front cover, with Freya in Y2 and Teddy in Y6 as runners up.  You can see all the designs in the brochure which is being sent to you today.  All the children who entered the competition will be called up onto the stage during the May Fair to receive their prizes.

Appeal for foreign currency for Mary’s Meals charity

The Pupil Chaplains have chosen Mary’s Meals as their Summer 1 charity and yesterday we had a presentation by Jane from Mary’s Meals in assembly.  Mary’s Meals provides hot meals to over 3 million children around the world every day.  Jane asked the children to help to raise money for the charity by donating any old or foreign money that they had at home.  The children will be given special envelopes on Monday to put the money in and we ask that these are brought into school before half-term.

Sports Update from Mr Sagar and Mrs Knowles

To celebrate the London Marathon last week, children across the school had the option to complete their own mini marathon in the playground at break times. It was great to see so many children taking part and enjoying counting their shuttle runs and calculating their distance achieved.  Thank you to the Sports Committee for organising the event.

Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday

In our assembly today we focussed on Sir David Attenborough who celebrates his 100th birthday and is such an inspiration to us.  You may have spotted this lovely post-box topper that has appeared on Queen’s Road this week.

Happy Birthday, Sir David!

SATS Test Week for Y6

Good luck to our Y6 pupils who are taking their National Curriculum (SATS) tests next week.  They have been working very hard and now just need to get some rest and relaxation this weekend before their week of tests.

Ascension Day Mass on Thursday 14th May at 2pm.

The feast of the Ascension of the Lord is a holy day of obligation and Canon John will be celebrating Mass at school on Thursday 14th May at 2pm.  Our Y5 children will be preparing the readings and prayers and all parents are very welcome to join us.

Non-Uniform Day on Friday 15th May

On Friday all children are invited to wear their own clothes to school in return for donating a bottle for the Bottle Tombola at the May Fair.

The new polo shirts will be available to buy at Dolphin House during the half-term holiday at a cost of £10.
