Weekly Update 9th May 2025

Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a historic week in school!  As well as commemorating 80 years since VE Day we were all excited to hear the good news about the election of Pope Leo XIV.  If you would like to find out more about Pope Leo, do take a look at the presentation below with your children which we received from the Diocese and shared in assembly this morning: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/16_G0i4BZhCapjDqZbTvGsCucKFOe9TkV/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=117523969287903982490&rtpof=true&sd=true

This week in school

VE Day Cream Tea

Thank you to our wonderful Y6 parents for organising the VE Day Cream Tea yesterday. All proceeds will go towards the Y6 end of year activities.

Y3 Assembly

Thank you to Y3 for leading the school in prayer yesterday morning.  The children explored the idea of sharing Good News and they showed through drama how the disciples were given the courage to go out and share the Good News that Jesus had risen.  They also shared their own research about traditional Easter traditions from around the world.

One week to go until the May Fair!

Our May Fair will be taking place on Sunday 18th May from 12 to 4 p.m.  Thank you for all the donations that have come in so far.  Please do keep these coming in!  Thank you too, for offering to help out on stalls or as part of the set up and clearing up teams on the day.  It promises to be a really fantastic day!

Our team of cyclists are in their final stages of preparations as they get ready to set off on their fundraising cycle to Guernsey on Friday 16th May.  Do come along and wave the cyclists on their way between 8:30am and 9am and please show your support by making a donation and sending them a message here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/r2g2025

With school budgets under enormous pressure at the moment, these funds help to pay for essential resources for teaching and learning in school.  We could not offer the children all that we do, without the generosity of our families and the hard work of our PTA and cyclists each year!

Next week in school

Y6 Test Week

Next week is SATs Week and our Y6 children will be taking tests in English Grammar, Spelling, Reading and Maths.  Mrs van den Driessche is very proud of the children’s hard work as they have prepared for the tests and we know they will all do their best.  All Y6 children are invited into school each day at 8:30am next week for a pre-test breakfast.

Non-uniform (Mufti Day) Friday 16th May

Children can wear their own clothes into school on Friday 16th May in return for bringing in a bottle for the Bottle Tombola at the May Fair.  Children can bring in any type of bottle but it must be full and unopened.  Bottles will be collected as the children come into school.
