Read our newsletter to find out what has been happening in school this week and upcoming events ...

Dear Parents and Carers,

Parents’ Evenings

Thank you for your attendance at Parents’ Meetings earlier this week. We hope that you found these meetings useful in informing you of your child’s progress and that you enjoyed looking at your child’s work in their books.

Y6 Junior Citizen

Our Y6 pupils took part in the Junior Citizen Event this week at Holly Lodge in Richmond Park. This is a borough wide event where children in Y6 experience responding to simulated real life scenarios to teach them essential life skill as they prepare to make the move to secondary school.

St Patrick’s Day

Thank you to Mr Askin and his team of helpers who led our St Patrick’s assembly today. We wish all members of our school community who will be celebrating today, a very happy St Patrick’s Day!

PTA Quiz Night

The PTA Quiz Night was a great event last week. Parents and staff teams competed against one another in quiz rounds which tested their Geography knowledge, questions set by the children and Mrs Diver’s Music round to name a few! Thank you to the Y3 parents for organising the evening and to The Garden Fish Bar on Sandycombe Road who provided the fish supper. The event raised a fantastic £1,160. Congratulations to the winning team, the Bournemouth 1 / Liverpool 7 who beat the teachers in a very close match!

PTA Nearly New Sale

Hot off the press - we are able to provide sales figures for today’s Nearly New Uniform sale. Despite the drizzly rain an amazing £356.83 was made.

The PTA also sell the maroon fleece school tracksuit, and this is available to purchase via the school office.

Sports News from Mr Sagar

The St Elizabeth's Rugby Team was in action this week at Queen's School. It was a tough first half but the team came back after the half-time break with great spirit and determination. They gained several tries and worked really well as a team. The eventual score was 5-3 to Queen’s. Well done to the whole team for perseverance and fantastic team work!

Next Week

Y5 School Journey to Sayers Croft - 22nd to 24th March

Our Y5 children will be setting off to Sayers Croft outdoor adventure centre in the Surrey Hills on Wednesday. This is the Y5 children’s first residential visit. The children will carry out a river study and take part in physical challenges such as climbing, rope course and orienteering. We hope they all have a fantastic time!

Children in Y5 have been sent home today with a letter providing final details for Sayers Croft and also a kit list.

Passion Play – Friday 24th March 10am

On Friday next week, Y4 and Y3 will be performing the Passion Play. The Passion Play revives the ancient tradition of telling the story of Jesus’s passion and death through drama and music. This is a particularly moving production and a lovely way to prepare for Easter. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.

Richmond Primary Singing Festival – Wednesday 22nd March

On Wednesday sixty children from both Junior and Infant choirs will be taking part in the Richmond Primary Singing Festival. They will be performing with other choirs from other schools at the Rose Theatre in Kingston. They have been rehearsing for a number of weeks now and the audience is in for a treat!

Christ the Redeemer Catholic Education Trust Meeting - Wednesday 22nd March at 7.30 pm

All parents are invited to attend a meeting to find out more about the Christ the Redeemer Catholic Education Trust on Wednesday evening in the school hall. This is a chance to ask questions and hear about the formation of the Catholic Education Trust with Mr Sean Maher, headteacher of Richard Challoner School.

SEND Assess, Plan, Do and Review (APDR) Meetings

All parents of children with SEND will have received an invitation to attend an APDR meeting to meet with Mrs Compton and class teachers to review children’s Spring Term learning plans. We ask that parents confirm by email their availability to attend these meetings.

Inspirational People

Continuing our theme of ‘Inspirational People’, we have a staff member to add to our list of people we have been learning about this term. Miss McCrossan, our Y4 teacher, is going to be taking part in a sky dive next weekend to raise funds for the Down’s Syndrome Association. Good luck Miss McCrossan!

Congratulations to our latest Million Word Reader! Madeleine in Y6T has now read 15 million words – an incredible achievement!
